Emily Salazar
A Corpus Christi native and Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi alum (B.A., Media Arts – Media Studies, Spring 2023), Emily Salazar began building her leadership experience on campus as Vice President of the Student Government Association. An alum of the Warner Bros. Writers’ Workshop, Tamar Laddy began her career as a staff writer on the hit TV series Pretty Little Liars, as well as The Lying Game and Hart of Dixie. A graduate of Princeton and USC, she is passionate about serialized, character-driven storytelling. She has recently found success writing Hallmark films such as Crashing Through the Snow and Round and Round.

Kathryn is a Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow. Her research focuses on the global television industries, streaming, and sports television. Her dissertation, "Imagining the Indian Football Audience: Distributing the English Premier League in India," interrogates how and to what extent the EPL is localized for Indian audiences.
She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2024 Roderick P. Hart Student Achievement Award. Her essay, “Cosmopolitan Ambivalence: Branding the English Premier League in India,” received the 2025 SCMS Media Industries Scholarly Interest Group Graduate Student Writing Award.
